Hello there and Welcome to my website! This page is intended to give you a snapshot of who I am, both as a person and a teacher! I grew up the rural area of Roberts Ferry just east of Waterford. My 2-8th grade academic career was spent in 2 and 3 grade level combination classes. I was here that I was influenced by my 2nd-5th Grade teacher Mrs. Brodie to become a teacher myself! I first came to Oakdale as a student of Oakdale High in 1994, from which I graduated in 1998. I attended CSU Stanislaus for my freshman year of College at which time I was also a part of STAMP (Stanislaus Tutoring And Mentoring Program). Upon the completion of my freshman year I transferred to CSU Monterey Bay, where I received my Bachelors of Arts in Liberal Studies in the fall of 2001. I returned to the Central Valley to complete my Multiple Subject Teaching Credential in the fall of 2002. I student taught in Empire at the Kindergarten Level, followed by a 3rd Grade placement in Riverbank. I gained a lot of “real life” experience in many Long Tem sub positions prior to being hired by Oakdale Joint Unified in September of 2003 for a 5th Grade position. I consider myself lucky everyday to wake and work in the same community that I basically grew up in. Since my original assignment of 5th Grade, I have taught 2nd Grade for 2 years and am currently teaching my 4th year of 1st Grade. I really to enjoy at least one aspect of all of those grades but love the transition from non-reader to reader in 1st!
On a personal level, I married my High School sweetheart in 2002 and made a home for my new family in Oakdale. He too is a “native” of Oakdale and works hard everyday for his families company based here in Oakdale. We have two very busy boys, Cole who is in Kindergarten and Case, who attends Learning Tree Preschool. We enjoy traveling to the ocean and mountains in our trailer and riding our Quads! |
